Welcome our visitors!

We welcome you to the heart of Győr. The so called "Collis Sacer", the Chapter Hill, declared a National Memorial Site, is the center of the religious, historical and cultural values of the city. Its buildings, monuments and invaluable sacral treasures, forming an integral whole, have been handed down to us as the thousand-year-old heritage of the Diocese of Győr. In its center stands the Basilica, founded in the time of St Stephen, which is a unique pilgrimage site with three important relics such as: the St Ladislaus’ herm, the Weeping Virgin Mother picture and the tomb of Blessed Bishop Vilmos Apor. The Chapter Hill is also home to the medieval Bishop's Castle and one of the richest collections of ecclesiastical art in Hungary.

Nearby the Basilica, visitors will find a rich cultural and sacral heritage that makes the place truly worth the name of "Sacred Hill", or "Collis Sacer". Visitors on the Chapter Hill will arrive to a large open-air museum, from where they can enter various permanent and temporary exhibitions, which can be reached through  the exhibition areas of the Saint Ladislaus Visitors’ Center. Visitors can buy tickets and gifts at the main reception at 13 Chapter Hill, or relax in the cosy café in between exhibitions. We hope that the "Collis Sacer" will send pilgrims on their way enriched in spirit and cultural experience.
